Hey everyone, I know both Zain & his wife, Sophia. We all worked together for #SaveOldGrowth & #StopEcocide work here in #BritishColumbia. What's happened to Zain is unjust & I'm asking you all to please read this whole post & sign the #petition. Thanks for your time & help. Please boost for wider reach.

* Last week, Prime Minister #MarkCarney revealed Lena Metledge Diab will serve as Canada’s new Immigration Minister.

The first thing Diab should do as Minister is bring #ClimateActivist Zain Haq back to Canada by greenlighting his Temporary Residence Permit that has been processing since January.

Zain was deported to Pakistan in January for climate activism that resulted in low-level mischief charges. He’d been living in Canada his entire adult life, and with his Canadian wife, Sophia Papp, since 2023.

Sophia has been given the devastating choice to remain in Canada without her spouse or relocate to #Pakistan , where she doesn’t speak the language and faces significant barriers to her health and wellbeing.

A mere 48 hours before Zain was deported, he and Sophia’s Spousal Sponsorship application was rejected by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) without substantive explanation.

The couple’s lawyer, Randall Cohn, has stated that this eleventh-hour rejection is likely illegal. It also denied Zain and Sophia’s right to procedural fairness, since they didn’t have time to access the appeal process enshrined in the #BillOfRights.

Zain and Sophia’s situation is reminiscent of the #unethical treatment of many #migrants in the U.S.

#IRCC ’s last minute rejection of a young couple’s Sponsorship Application without substantive reason should raise alarm bells for anyone of conscience, but especially for those with a #legal background – and before getting into #politics , Minister Diab was a #lawyer in Halifax. That’s why we have to get Zain’s file on her desk as soon as possible. *

Some people wonder why there is such a big #environmentalist movement in #newjersey when the propaganda says we are the armpit of the #USA. The truth is that, yes, we have the largest number of #Superfund sites of any state, but we also have the largest number of restored Superfund sites of any state. #NJ suffered from intense industrialization which caused #eco disaster but we learned from that experience. About a third of the state has been restored to #Nature. We care about the #environment

#NewJersey has a deregulated #energy market so I was able to switch my #electric provider from the utility company to Clearview Energy. With the change, 100% of the power for my home comes from #renewableenergy and Clearview sends me a reimbursement check every three months for my overnight #EV #charging . If you live in a #USA state with a deregulated energy market, I recommend checking out Clearview Energy's offerings. #environment #environmentalist #environmentalism

#ThrowbackThursday
4 years ago, I first met this gentle giant.
It's one of the only older Western red #cedar #trees left at #W̱MÍYEŦEN #NatureSanctuary. Most of the land had been logged more than once before it was acquired for conservation & rewilding. This is a 2nd growth cedar & it is over 150 yrs old.

The W̱MÍYEŦEN #Nature Sanctuary is a 42 acre protected forest and riparian area that supports biodiversity while preserving ecosystems and wildlife habitat. The tranquil natural environment, inspires an awareness of nature as teacher and essential ally.

I'm a member of this local, biodiverse nature sanctuary. They mainly rely on memberships & public donations. They work with #Indigenous leaders/educators/naturalists from #Wsanec First Nations. The name was changed from the former Mary Lake Sanctuary to W̱MÍYEŦEN Nature Sanctuary to respect that the property is on native lands.

I am deeply concerned about the future of the federal #tax credit for residential #solarpanels under a completely #Republican Congress. That tax credit has made it affordable for millions of Americans to install #solar , which helps prevent harmful emissions, save money, and shore up an aging power grid. Solar panels have created hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs in the USA and generated hundreds of billions of dollars for the economy. #environment #environmentalist

GetUp!’s attacks on @WePlanetAus highlight the desperation of legacy anti-nuclear groups clinging to outdated dogma. For years, they’ve positioned themselves as gatekeepers of the environmental movement, but the world is moving on. Nuclear energy is now a central part of serious discussions about Australia’s clean energy future.

Let’s be clear: WePlanet Australia is a grassroots movement of scientists, environmentalists, and everyday citizens. They aren’t tied to any industry or government groups, and they don’t take corporate donations. Everything they do is powered by people who believe in fact-based solutions to the climate crisis.

GetUp pioneered innovative grassroots activism, and for that, they deserve credit. But their views on nuclear energy—and their attacks on those who challenge them—are wrong. While they cling to fear and outdated stereotypes, we’re championing modern nuclear energy as a zero-carbon complement to renewables like wind and solar.

They’ve run successful campaigns on nuclear energy, modern plant breeding, golden rice, and alternative proteins—because the future is built on hope, optimism, and science-backed solutions. The public supports our work because they see the need for evidence-based approaches to solving the climate crisis.

It’s disappointing to see GetUp distort facts and attack fellow environmentalists, but it won’t stop us. Australia is closer than ever to overturning its decades-old nuclear ban, and we’re on the verge of winning. Together, we can build a clean, sustainable future powered by truth, not fear.

I'm the happiest & feel most at home, when in midst of nature. I talk to more trees, plants, fungi & wildlife than I talk to humans. It's a personal choice. I love nature very much. I do my best to try to protect what I love the most in the world. I believe we should always do our personal best to protect what we love most in this shared world.

We can't really fail, when we try our best to protect what we love ❤️💚❤️💚

Please take some time watch my deceased friend, Twyla's #documentary. She worked extremely hard with Alexandra Morton to create this film doc. It's about the plight of #BCWildSalmon & why many of us activists here have been fighting to get all open net fish farms out of BC coastal waters. They should have never been allowed to set up operations in the first place.
