Gary Parker :party_porg:<p>I've got a couple of 1st gen Amazon <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/Alexa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Alexa</span></a> <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/Echo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Echo</span></a> devices performing excessive <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/DNS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DNS</span></a> lookups again. None of the other Amazon devices in the house exhibit the same behaviour when using <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/BBCsounds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BBCsounds</span></a></p><p>They're constantly (every 1.5 seconds or so) looking up "as-hls-uk-live.akamaized.net". The A record has a TTL of 20s, and appears to be part of the BBC's live streaming radio infrastructure.</p><p>This accounts for ~400 lookups every ten minutes against my pihole, ~90% of which receive cached responses.</p>
