VeGaNGoTHDiscogs-Dienstag: Peter Murphy – Tale Of The Tongue<a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Murphy_(Musiker)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Peter Murphy</a> ist einer der prägensten Musiker in meinem Leben. Seine Stimme ist unverkennbar und charismatisch, genau wie seine Bühnenpräsenz. Als ich ihn und seine Band <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bauhaus</a> Mitte der 1980er Jahre kennenlernte, war die Band bereits Geschichte (1983) und auch sein Projekt Dalis Car mit dem Ausnahmebassisten <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Karn" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Mick Karn</a> (Japan) hatte er bereits beendet (1984). 1985 begann seine Solo-Karriere mit dem Pere Ubu-Cover „Final Solution“ als erste Single. 1986 folgte das Album „Should The World Fail To Fall Apart“ und die ebenfalls daraus ausgekoppelte Single „Blue Heart“. Und dann war da noch seine dritte Single, die nicht auf dem Album enthalten war, <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/release/590828-Peter-Murphy-Tale-Of-The-Tongue" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Tale Of The Tongue</a>, bis heute eines meiner Lieblingslieder des „Godfather Of Goth“.Ich hatte die Maxi damals nicht bekommen, ein Freund von mir hatte sie jedoch und überspielte mir diese auf Tape. Ich weiß gar nicht, ob ich die Kassette noch habe. 1996 kam dann ein Sampler heraus, <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/release/1121987-Various-Spirit-Of-The-80s-Wave-Klassiker-Underground-Geheimtips" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Spirit Of The 80’s</a>, Untertitel „Wave Klassiker und Underground Geheimtips“, auf dem auch „Tale Of The Tongue“ zu finden war. Da war ich schon mal glücklich, das Lied offiziell in meiner Sammlung zu haben. Später habe ich dann noch die Maxi-Single bei Ebay ersteigern können. „Tale Of The Tongue“ ist nicht nur eine „Stand-Alone-Single“, es fällt auch musikalisch komplett aus der damaligen Zeit, was die Musik von Peter Murphy betrifft. Kein Wunder also, dass es nicht auf das Album passte. Textlich bewegt Mr. Murphy sich zwischen persönlicher Reflexion und Gesellschaftskritik. Die wiederkehrende Refrain-Zeile „The Street Still Screams“ wirkt wie ein Mantra, das gesellschaftliche Unruhe, Chaos und dumpfe Massenstimmen widerspiegelt, wie wir es gerade jetzt wieder erleben. Gleichzeitig wird uns der Träumer den Weg zuflüstern („So the dreamer speaks in time drunk wine, take the coming day, if I seem to lag behind, whisper me the way“). Der Song ist atmosphärisch, minimalistisch und hypnotisch, mit kalten elektronisch wirkenden Drums (Terl Bryant), dunkler Basslinie (Eddie Branch) und schwebenden Gitarrenflächen (L. Howard Hughes, Peter Bonas). Peter Murphy singt teils gesprochen, teils beschwörend – wie ein Prophet oder Beobachter in einer dystopischen Landschaft. Aus meiner Sicht ein absolutes Meisterwerk, das völlig zu Unrecht nur wenig bekannt ist.Leider hat Mr. Murphy zur Zeit wieder gesundheitliche Probleme, weshalb alle Auftritte für diesen Sommer <a href="https://sonic-seducer.de/peter-murphy-bauhaus-alle-sommer-shows-2025-inklusive-mera-luna-abgesagt/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">abgesagt wurden</a>, zum Beispiel der beim <a href="https://meraluna.de/de/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">M’Era Luna</a> in Hildesheim. Ich hatte bisher zweimal die Gelegenheit, ihn live zu erleben, am 19.04.1992 bei der <a href="https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/peter-murphy/1992/philipshalle-dusseldorf-germany-5bd01f54.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">WDR-Rocknacht in Düsseldorf</a> und mit Bauhaus im Rahmen der <a href="https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/bauhaus/1998/docks-hamburg-germany-5bd01fe8.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Ressurection-Tour</a> am 30.10.1998 im Hamburger Docks. Zwei weitere Versuche sind leider aufgrund von Absagen gescheitert. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: Siouxsie And The Banshees – Once Upon A Time/The Singles<a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siouxsie_and_the_Banshees" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Siouxsie And The Banshees</a> ist schon eine meiner Lieblingsbands. Und gerade ihre Anfänge, als sie aus dem Punk kommend den Post-Punk mitbegründet haben und später durch ihre Optik und natürlich auch musikalisch den Gothic-Rock geprägt haben. Von dieser Anfangszeit erzählt uns die erste Singles-Collection „Once Upon A Time“, zu deutsch „Es war einmal …“, allerdings sehr eingeschränkt, nämlich auf zehn Songs aus den Jahren 1978 bis 1981, die als Singles veröffentlicht wurden. Ich merke, wie meine kleine Fan-Seele leidet, weil ich euch nur eine kleine Auswahl großartiger Lieder auf dieser Compilation vorstellen kann. „Hong Kong Garden“ und „Mirage“ vom Debütalbum „The Scream“ (1978) machen den Anfang. „Mirage“ war nicht mal eine Single, sondern in der ersten Peel Session enthalten. „The Staircase Mystery“ war eine Single, die auf keinem Album erschienen ist (1979). „Playground Twist“ war die einzige Single vom zweiten Album „Join Hands“ (1979). Im selben Jahr wurde der Song „Metal Postcard“ vom Album „The Scream“ mit einem deutschen Text unter dem Titel „Mittageisen“ als Single veröffentlicht, mit „Love In A Void“ als „Double-A-Side“. Letzteres ist auf der Singlescollection. Alle bisherigen Songs wurden mit dem Line-Up Siouxsie Sioux (Gesang), Steven Severin (Bass) , John McKay (Gitarre), Kenny Morris (Drums) aufgenommen. McKay und Morris verließen die Band nach „Join Hands“ und wurden von John McGeoch (Gitarre, Siouxsies Lieblingsgitarrist) und Budgie (Drums, mit dem Siouxsie auch <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Creatures" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Creatures</a> formierte und mit dem sie von 1991 bis 2007 verheiratet war) ersetzt. Zwischen McKay und McGeoch war Robert Smith (The Cure) noch als Gitarrist eingestiegen, spielte jedoch 1979 nur einige Konzerte mit den Banshees, da McKay und Morris während einer Tour ausgestiegen waren.In dieser Besetzung wurde 1980 das Album „Kaleidoscope“ aufgenommen, das ich gerade ganz schwer beschrieben kann. Es ist ein erster Wendepunkt in der Bandgeschichte, weg vom klassischen Post-Punk hin zu experimentelleren Sounds. Wobei SATB schon immer gern experimentiert haben, mit Budgie und insbesondere McGeoch an der Gitarre wurde ein ganz neues Level erreicht. Davon zeugen die Singles aus diesem Album, „Happy House“ und „Christine“, zwei absolute Klassiker der Banshees. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: Die Krupps – Volle Kraft voraus!„Jürgen Engler gibt ’ne Party und wir kommen nicht rein“ sangen die Toten Hosen 1982 auf ihrer ersten Single. Der Besungene hatte da gerade seine Band <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Male</a> aufgelöst, 1976 als erste deutsche Punk-Band gegründet, um sich unter dem Namen <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Krupps" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Die Krupps</a> dem frühen Industrial zu widmen. Unterstützt wurde er dabei von Ralf Dörper, der später mit <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Propaganda</a> („Dr. Mabuse“) Erfolge feierte, sowie von Tina Schnekenburger und Bernward Malaka, der bei Male Bass gespielt hatte. Ihr Debütalbum „Stahlwerksynfonie“ (1981) besteht aus zwei gleichnamigen Tracks, die 13:42 Minuten und 14:38 Minuten lang sind. Ein Jahr darauf ist „Volle Kraft voraus!“ erschienen.Während Stahwerksynfonie seinem Namen alle Ehre machte und musikalisch u. a. auf Stahlpercussions wie das Stahlofon, eine Art Xylophon mit Eisenstäben verschiedener Längen, und Bohrmaschinen setzte, iwurde auf dem Nachfolger hauptsächlich mit Synthesizern gearbeitet. Der Stil erinnert an <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsch_Amerikanische_Freundschaft" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">D.A.F.</a>, mit denen Tina Schnekenburger zusammenarbeitete, bevor sie zu den Krupps stieß. Die frühen Krupps gelten als die Vorreiter des deutschen Industrials sowie der Electronic Body Music und der Neuen Deutschen Härte. Sogar <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depeche_Mode" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Depeche Mode</a> sollen sie inspiriert haben. Nach „Volle Kraft voraus!“ erschien 1985 das englischsprachige Mini-Album „Entering The Arena“, das Band-Pause einläutete. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: Bauhaus – The Passion of LoversDer zweite Zufallsgriff in <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/user/bauhausmensch/collection" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">meine Plattekiste</a> beschert uns die Band, der ich meinen Nickname verdanke: <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bauhaus</a>. Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich eine Phase, in der ich alle Singles der Band bei eBay ersteigert habe, eine nach der anderen. „The Passion Of Lovers“ war die sechste Single der Band, veröffentlicht von Beggars Banquet am 19.06.1981. Das Lied ist ebenfalls auf dem Album „Mask“ zu hören.„The Passion Of Lovers“ ist nicht nur eines meiner Lieblingslieder, sondern generell eines der beliebtesten und in Goth-Clubs gern gespielten Lieder von Bauhaus. Und auch die B-Seite ist durchaus interessant. „1. David Jay 2. Peter Murphy 3. Kevin Haskins 4. Daniel Ash“ ist ein sogenannter „Equisite Corpse“, ich habe das schon einmal <a href="https://norden.social/@bauhausmensch/111244381314076835" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">bei Mastodon erklärt</a>:<blockquote>Bei diesem Lied handelt es sich um einen Cadavre Exquis (deutsch: köstliche Leiche, englisch: exquisite corps). Ursprünglich entstehen so Bilder oder Texte, bei denen mehrere Personen einen Satzteil aufschreiben (oder ein Bildteil zeichnen) ohne zu wissen, was der vorherige Mitspieler geschrieben (oder gezeichnet) hat. Bauhaus-Album „The Sky’s Gone Out“ finden wir das Lied „Exquisite Corps“ und das jüngste Lied von Bauhaus ist das während des Corona-Lockdowns entstandene „Drink The New Wine“.Wir erinnern uns: „The Exquisite Corpse Will Drink The New Wine“. Ziemlich genial, oder?</blockquote>Daniel Ash hat seinen Part sogar rückwärts abgespielt. Diese Experimentierfreudigkeit ist ein Grund, warum ich Bauhaus als Band so liebe. Sie haben sich nie um Stilfragen gekümmert, sondern immer ihre Musik gemacht. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: No More – Remake/RemodelHeute gebe ich den ersten Einblick in meine <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/user/bauhausmensch/collection" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Musiksammlung</a> frei. Ich freue mich, dass eine Band aus Kiel den Anfang macht: <a href="http://www.nomoremusic.eu/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">No More</a>. Sie waren eine der ersten deutschen Post-Punk-Bands und haben gleich mit ihrer zweiten Single einen Szeneklassiker abgeliefert, der heute noch auf keiner Gothic-Party fehlen darf: Suicide Commando.Dieser Song fehlt auch nicht auf „Remake/Remodel“, der Band-Compilation aus dem Jahr 2006, zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum von Suicide Commando. Sie besteht aus zwei CDs im Digipack, „Remake“ (CD 1) und „Remodel“ (CD 2), mit einem 16-seitigen Booklet. CD 1 besteht aus 13 Songs, von denen neun Neuinterpretationen alter Titel sind und vier ganz neue Lieder von 2006.CD 2 enthält gleich neun Versionen von Suicide Commando, eine Demoaufnahme, Liveaufnahmen und Remixe. Dazu gibt es noch sieben Videos, sechs von Suicide Commando und eins von Venus In Furs, eine Coverversion von The Velvet Underground.Remake/Remodel ist als CD bei <a href="https://nomore.bandcamp.com/album/remake-remodel-25th-anniversary-edition-2-cd-box" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bandcamp für 5 € zu haben</a>, allerdings ohne Download. Straub also claimed that NFTs allow for higher artist royalties compared to streaming.🚫 If I didn't make it clear, I hate NFTs as much as everyone else does. 💽 Since she primarily releases on capitalist garbage like Spotify and Apple Music, I'm left digging for her new releases in used markets like Discogs, eBay, and local shops.
