🦊 ThreatFox Update | We're now expiring IOCs older than 6 months.

IOCs don’t last forever and internet infrastructure often gets re-used, therefore we're implementing a 6-month expiry policy to reduce false positives.

As a result, expired IOCs will no longer appear in ThreatFox exports or be available via the ThreatFox APIs. Thanks for your continued support! 🙏

I guess I should do an #introduction.

👋 I'm Scott, I've been doing this security thing focused on threat intelligence, incident response, software development, and general security operations & (dare I say) leadership.

Along the way I worked at Mandiant, GitHub, Apple, and Splunk. Now I'm looking for my next challenge.

Along the way I wrote a book 📖, taught SANS 578 👨‍🏫, and spoke a bunch of places 🗣️. I was also early on Birdsite and built an amazing community. I'm hopeful Mastodon can bring back some of that magic again.

Hi All, here is my #Introduction.

Raised in the 90s but surrounded by a culture of the 80s. First OS I regularly used was Windows 95. First OS I bricked by trying to bypass PGP full disk encryption was Windows XP. Since that was the family computer, my punishment was reformatting the drive, reinstalling the OS, its programs, and explaining to my siblings why their files could not be restored. #Learnfromyourmistakes #Backupyourdata

Over the years, I have worked in #webhosting, #datacenter operations, #sysadmin, #cyberthreatintel, and #infosec. I work on the #blueteam but occasionally work on #redteam projects. I often publish #opensource blue team tools on #github. Please feel free to submit PRs for contributions.

#LinkinPark and 80s rock.

I miss the days of #irc but I am excited to join the #mastodon community. Thank you to everyone at #infosec.exchange for welcoming me here. I look forward to building relationships with people here and love the culture.
