SEEDS OF SPRING UPDATE:
I've decided to put the PDF's of books 1 through 5 of my ongoing comic book series, Seeds of Spring, on sale at 3$ instead of 5$ on my Ko-Fi page.

In this innovative serial graphic novel, Naguset, a modern Canadian Mi'kmaq teenager, exchanges books and mix tapes with her pen pal, Chris. Her imagination sparks when he sends her a biography of the 19th century Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin. The story juxtaposes Naguset's personal and political coming-of-age in her loving family home with Kropotkin's rocky upbringing in a princely palace. These two stories of eventful lives and bold hearts are interwoven with Kropotkin's theories of freedom, Mi'kmaq vocabulary and social history, and an uplifting punk soundtrack, creating a unique reading experience bound to inspire readers to think in new ways about the issues of our time.
Physical books are also available from Microcosm Publishing https://microcosmpublishing.com/catalog/zines/10448
Seeds of Spring is written by Christopher Coquard and is illustrated by me.
#QuestionOfTheDay what's a cynical corporately produced trend-chasing work that you actually like?
#QuestionOfTheDay in sports, the "Ewing Theory" posits that some teams where the superstar player receives inordinate media and fan attention but the team doesn't do well, actually do better when the player is gone.

My question in the same vein is: name a work of fiction (game, anime, manga, TV show, book, whatever) that you think is better when the main character/hero/protagonist isn't around.
10 years ago today the first season of Daredevil premiered. Still one of the best live action Marvel productions, and still one of the most successfully executed comic-to-screen adaptations we got, managing to keep a perfect balance between having a more serious tone, while still not feeling ashamed to stay true to its source material.
maybe there's some comic book artists who'd wanna talk about a collaboration
the script for book one of two is finished! it's a middle grade coming-of-age portal fantasy and plays in a bit of a horror space
money is tight, but we could come to an agreement together, get some pages drawn, and maybe attempt a fundraiser for the rest. i'm pretty open to options
boosts appreciated to help me find artists!
My son in Grade 11 is doing a study on the impact of AI Art on Comic Artists. If you are a comic artist (amateur or pro) and can spare some time to answer his survey, we would appreciate your participation immensely.

Just released version 3.10.1 of "ACBR Comic Book Reader": https://github.com/binarynonsense/comic-book-reader/releases
With this update, the program is now also available as a deb package, which should work with Linux distributions, like Ubuntu 24.04, that require setting an AppArmor profile for Electron apps to run, as the regular and AppImage versions don't currently work on them due to that restriction.

What's the difference between being interested in something, and being a die-hard fan? According to Michael Elliott, a professor of sociology at Towson University, the latter have a level of devotion that is almost religious — and in some cases, fandom can even provide a moral code. "Many fans describe comic-con culture as a source of principles — such as inclusivity, compassion and self-development — that guide their behavior," writes Elliott for @TheConversationUS.

Comics have always been a great way to get kids reading for enjoyment so not surprised by this.
