With that nonsense 'Candians pay more taxes' story going around I grabbed this image of what cutting and going to U.S. "healthcare" could cost instead. Saving a few hundred on your taxes doesn't matter if it goes like this.

There's something to be said about the Red Serge and those incredibly majestic horses.

My grandfather, if he was still here, would be proud, having been Sergeant when Queen Elizabeth took the train through Canada in the 80's.

He was the first to greet her in Vegreville.

Though the RCMP has its issues, I'm still so proud to be his grandson.

Update: Hours after King Charles' throne speech and days after Pete Hoekstra, the U.S. ambassador to Canada, said the annexation saga was "over," President Donald Trump once again referenced the idea of Canada as America's 51st state.

“I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “They are considering the offer!”

Global News · Trump says Canada would pay $61B for Golden Dome, but zero as ’51st state’By Sean Boynton

"The True North is indeed strong and free," said King Charles in his throne speech at the opening of the Canadian parliament today. This was only the third time in Canada's history a monarch has delivered the address, which is usually given by the governor general. Charles was there at the request of Prime Minister Mark Carney and referenced Canada's unique identity and a renewal of "national pride, unity and hope" in a speech that underlined the country's sovereignty in the face of U.S. President Trump's "51st state" threats.

CBCKing says 'strong and free' Canada is a force for good in historic throne speech | CBC NewsKing Charles delivered a historic speech from the throne Tuesday and he used that platform to praise Canada as a force for good that will remain "strong and free" as its relationships with longtime partners are "changing."

"Oil industry profits have also never been higher...Corporate profits gobble up a huge slice of Alberta’s GDP: about 40 per cent of total output over the last five years, twice as much as the rest of Canada...It wasn’t Ottawa that laid them off, cut their pay, froze the minimum wage, drove up electricity and insurance costs, and put their health care at risk." #abpoli #canpoli thestar.com/business/opinion/l

More evidence that Canada needs to transition to open-source on all government computers, all levels of government, especially the Dept of Defence. End reliance on US servers and companies.

Rain, the water cycle, the thing that puts life on earth, is breaking, is broken. Too little rain because heating and drought, or too much in "rain rivers" washing away soil, smashing.

Beavers could be used to fight both. Both slowing rain rivers from staring up-stream as many little dams catch some.

And dams can keep water in the interior, which are ALL becoming kindling dry in droughts.

We need to encourage population growth, protected status.
