Disappointed to see #Sheffield dairy farm Our Cow Molly buying into completely unsubstantiated right wing conspiracy theories about Bovaer. The video they've linked to takes safety issues when handling the raw substance and tries to conflate it to the far lower concentrations that go into the cattle feed. There's also no evidence that it ends up in the milk, or that it negatively affects milk yields.

They're also buying into the campaign wealthy landowners are mounting against Labour's removal of farmers' exemption from inheritance tax in a big way, with banners on display. Guess I'll be finding somewhere else to get my milk and ice cream.

All the hysteria about #bovaer is particularly ridiculous given that cattle feed in the UK can already legally be 0.15% plastic theguardian.com/environment/20 and dairy cattle are being fed all sorts of antibiotics for mastitis. It's so bizarre that everyone's up in arms about something actually well tested just because it's new, but don't just assume what cattle were eating already must be harmless.

This so so weird. Methane-reducing feed additives for cattle such as Bovaer have the potential to make really useful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from the dairy industry.

We should be welcoming them with open arms.

And yet there are rampant conspiracy theories about them and people boycotting them.

Why? It makes absolutely no sense to me.
