Bonsai v0.8.1 released with more BIM features
Bonsai v0.8.1 has been released! Bonsai is an add-on for Blender that provides native IFC and OpenBIM authoring for architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
Worked out how to do a 7 segment display in #blender, using geometry nodes.
It's a spaghetti tangle of noodles :) I think it resembles a digital electronic schema more than it does code. Nodes in reply.
Thanks for this, as usual!
A friend of mine asked if the whole production pipeline of Flow had been done in #Blender, since the film is always presented as "Made with Blender". Do we know the whole software pipeline? Was the whole thing made with blender, indeed? (For instance, the editing and the post processing)
TIL: Flow was made with the #OpenSource software #Blender ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(2024_film)
Awesome video by #IFCArchitect about using #Bonsai to create a chair in 15 minutes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez8Ly9bjAAk

Rigging a Tow Truck in Blender
LuckyChris shows how to rig a mechanical object. His tutorial provides a step-by-step guide to rigging and animating a tow truck in Blender, focusing on bone creation, constraints, and animation techniques.
Opening up #blender once again because I wanted to do some simple modelling and becoming immediately completely demotivated because the UI changed again and I again cannot figure out a single fucking thing.
I have been coming back to blender for over a decade now, they regularly throw away and redo their UI and every single time it's still so shitty you can't figure out the most basic shit with it.
It's truly amazing how consistently blender has the *literal* worst UX on the planet.
I love how Flow has become an inspiring example for learning Blender.
- Should I learn Blender? Is it any good?
+ Yes! Just look at Flow, an Oscar-winning film animated in Blender :)
Any recommendations for learning hard surface modeling for beginners using #Blender 4.0+? The majority of courses I've found are for older versions of Blender.
Videos or e-books, free or paid.
Ist doch schön zu sehen, dass man auch mit Open-Source-Software einen Oscar holen kann.
Ein Animationsfilm, der komplett mit #Blender erstellt wurde.
