@Jueltrae, alas, I’m not familiar with Polish community programs, but some German users here may be able to assist you with farming, gardening and #allotment in your climate. Try #garten for more visibility. (I’m in a subtropical climate.)
One suggestion: consider checking with local arborists for compost materials, as they need to dispose of waste and often need to pay to do so. It’s cheaper and convenient for them to give it to gardeners. Both US and UK have free services
Bumblebee nest – accidentally revealed when lifting some cardboard. I’ve put it back as well as I could and committed that patch of the allotment to them for the reminder of the season.
We're browsing Nasturtium seeds on Kings Seeds and Kat shouts out "nasty! nasty!" ... so now we're listening tho "Nasty!" by the Prodigy whilst browsing Nasturtium seeds.
We always had Nasturtiums growing and I grew up calling Nasturtiums "Nasties", because @JillyG does... I wonder: is this a common thing?
Do you call Nasturtiums "Nasties"?
Some perennials or self sown annuals that need very little work.
Also some growing beds being prepped to be planted up probably a month from now.
One bed was broadcast sown with a varied mix of a whole load of different salad and root crops. #GrowYourOwn #HomeGrown #NoDig #Allotment #Gardening
At the plot. It's raining in a variety of densities, no drizzle.
Stuff is growing despite the weather. Indoors, strawbs have gone mad and grow vertically .... well, so far.
Also various beans which will go outdoors later, still too cold for them.
Weirdly broadbeans are already flowering tho they're barely 15cm high.
I've bought a bag of them in a food shop and they originate from Iran, of all places.
Grapes are starting green shoots, lil carrots tops, leeks and garlic also. Spuds.
Nice.
First day of week off, the sun's still shining, and I'm up and out already, building these new beds for wildflowers along the edge of the polytunnel

And look! Freecycle is the best, yesterday I saved 18 slabs to create the last path I need down the blueberry side of the #allotment. Now to move the bricks (also salvaged, perfect for holding netting down) and shuffle the slabs in a bit according to my precise measured plan Reuse gives such a warm fuzzy feeling

Fellow Northern Brits - what seeds are you sowing out already?
Saw a forecast for frosts/snow (!) later in April and now not sure what I'm doing... No greenhouse, v limited windowsill acreage... Still go ahead with broad beans/beetroot etc?
Thanks!
What is this weed? Dug out of a Norfolk UK allotment bed.
We saw these little fuzzy leaves poking out of the ground in the middle of our asparagus bed. I dug around them trying to get as much out as possible and my little trowel hit something that went crunch... I dug out this large root/rhizome/tuber... clearly not all of it either. It's huge!
I've no idea what this is.
Edit: as identified by @laurenheywood this is a bryony of some sort ... we actually had this weed growing amongst the asparagus last year and thought it might be some sort of cucumber, but then it had red berries. Turns out it's related to cucumber! I assumed it was some annual, not something with a huge tuber! No we know.
Plot progress. The front half is almost ready for sowing and planting up from next month onwards.
A Jostaberry now occupies the space the mass of wild brambles used to.

The greenhouse full of soil blocks. It’s sow time. #GrowYourOwn #SeedStarting #SoilBlocks #GreenManures #Gardening #Allotment
Have been dressing all wrong for shovelling manure and wrangling brambles at the #allotment, this guardian article recommends a £110 *WHITE* cardigan, a £195 boilersuit, with a tiny £165 cashmere scarf and £260 shoes https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/gallery/2025/mar/14/what-to-wear-for-spring-gardening
The hedge laying is done for now. It needs tidying and I need to find some better stakes and more binders to finish the job, but the pleaching work is all done.
There’s now a recognisable pathway between the nature reserve and the plot.
Moments after taking this a fox poked its head around the corner before ambling off again.

Rhubarb Corner in fact, and tangible progress. (Also it was a good drying day.)
