Übrigens: Mit Snapdrop gibt es sowas wie eine unabhängige Web-basierte Alternative für AirDrop.

Das funktioniert dann natürlich auch mit dem Android Telefon, mit dem Linux Laptop und jedem anderen halbwegs aktuellen Gerät mit Webbrowser.

Die Dateien werden Peer-to-peer im lokalen Netzwerk übertragen. Der Snapdrop-Server wird nur für das Signalling genutzt. Wer will, kann den Signalling-Server auch selbst hosten.

Kann man sich einprägen. Wer weiß, wann man mal eben eine Datei von einem Gerät auf's andere schubsen muss.

LocalSend to darmowa, multiplatformowa alternatywa dla #AirDrop. Pozwala na szybkie udostępnienie innym osobom w tej samej sieci LAN plików, w tym zdjęć czy filmów w pełnej jakości. Całość działa na zasadzie Peer-to-Peer, co oznacza, że dane nie opuszczają naszej sieci – wszystko odbywa się lokalnie. Wystarczy, że nadawca i odbiorca otworzą aplikację, a urządzenia wzajemnie się wykryją — wtedy nadawca wybiera odbiorcę i gotowe.
Co ciekawe, nasz odbiorca nie potrzebuje tej aplikacji, aby otrzymać plik — mamy możliwość wygenerowania linku, który pozwala na pobranie danych.
Zadbano także o kwestie bezpieczeństwa — możemy sobie ustawić kod, który będzie wymagany do odbioru lub wysłania pliku.
Jedyną wadą jest ograniczenie urządzeń do tych w tej samej sieci — nie jesteśmy w stanie udostępniać plików do urządzeń obok siebie bez połączenia z siecią LAN tak jak w przypadku prawdziwego AirDropa.

In terms of file sharing, #KDE's #KDEConnect is far better, faster, and more reliable than #Apple's #AirDrop for sure. The only downside is the need to be on the same network, which makes it pretty useless other than when you're at home. The upside is though, that it works with any devices regardless if they're on #iOS, #macOS, #Linux, #Windows, or #Android. I just wish clipboard sharing is as good and seamless as what you'd get on Apple devices though - but that probably has to do with the limitations on those non-Linux platforms.

Airdrop has a significant flaw: you can only find devices when their screen is on. This means you can’t send a file or webpage from your iPhone to an iPad in another room. Of course, this is an iOS limitation.
