Anybody knows someone working at Ableton?

Ableton Live crashes when picking Darkglass Anagram as USB interface because of its odd-number of IO (3 capture, 9 playback).
It expects USB IO to be stereo, but there is no such restriction in the spec afaik

Cubase and Reaper work ok with it.

Genuine question here for Linux users and musicians, composers, guitar players etc. I am being told by several mouthy people online that "nobody uses linux" & "nobody would use linux for music making"

How many of you use or have used Linux as a vehicle for recording music?

Please retoot/repost to help get a handle on this, cheers!

some of how *that* one looks like can be seen here: mastodon.social/@unspeaker/113

#ableton and pretty much any other #daw i've tried lets you group tracks, and collapse them. fair enough.

no daw i've seen lets you group and collapse "scenes" or any other section of time. just imagine having each track's arrangement in your setlist expandable in place, so you can easily do transitions and medleys... that's the kind of thing i'm tryna build.

Mastodonstateful being (@unspeaker@mastodon.social)Attached: 1 image avast ye scurvy docs, it's not like it totally works yet but i think it's about time to introduce you to the results of the past has it been another fucking month already. this is #tek, the prototype #daw in #rust for the #linux #tui environment. it aspires to be the missing link for the entire #jack ecosystem, but right now it strives to become a damn good #midi #sequencer.

the table thing ties back into into #vestal, the binary patcher for old soundwares (codeberg.org/unspeaker/vestal - that one isn't passing its ci yet, baaad code, baaaaaad developer!)

that could sure use some interactivity, at least in development. would keep me focused.

it also ties back into #tek, whose entire thing is reimplementing #ableton's "#excel for music" schtick in a terminal, so, again, tables!

or, more properly, collapsible table-trees... not a new idea, more like a lost technology! 😁

Forgejo: Beyond coding. We Forge.vestal🏛️ relinks closed-source windows vst plugins into standalone linux jack devices💃

If it wasn't for #Ableton #Live, I would be on #Linux right now. Sadly, it's the best #DAW I've ever used, and #BitWig is just not there.

Especially when they make you pay for a year's worth of updates, so they don't give you all the point releases for a major version for free.

I'm sorry, but that's such a shady behaviour. I would rather upgrade my Live every few years at full price than fund those scammers.

... and I'm working on something new 🔥

This time live performance in mind since the start, with #ableton macros driving CV and all sound sources and most effects coming from the #eurorack modular synth and various pedals.

TipTop 256t, Xaoc Odessa, Qu-Bit Prism, Godspear (OSCar-like filter), Erica Synths Polivoks VCF the primary things being modulated, beside Chase Bliss Mood and Walrus Audio Fable on the pedalboard.

Getting to play at Äänen Lumo (aanenlumo.com) a few weeks ago as part of the String Series II evening was fantastic.

That was my first outing with the modular, made me think of tweaks for the next time: how to prep an #eurorack dependent DAW session, building a new enclosure so I can keep everything patched self contained (CNC milled the first half of it together), learning how to pre-program looper record / overdub automations with #ableton / Bink Looper.
