#Microsoft, admettant tactiquement qu'elle n'a pas réussi à convaincre tous les utilisateurs de #Win10 de passer à #Win11, prolonge la prise en charge de W10 pour 1 année supplémentaire.

Pour la plupart des utilisateurs, cela signifie qu'ils devront s'abonner à Microsoft 365. Donc leurs données et méta-données seront conservées dans un centre de données aux #US. Cette situation n'est pas du goût de nombreuses orgas et entreprises de l'#UE.

Wow, wenn man als Privatperson MS mehr Daten in ihre #Cloud schiebt, bekommt man länger Sicherheitsupdates für #Win10.

Wer's noch nicht getan hat, sollte sich nun Linux für seine Rechner überlegen.

Unter anderem bei Veranstaltungen wie den Grazer Linuxtagen #GLT (#GLT25 war schon) oder #Linux Café demnächst https://gancio.graz.events/event/linux-cafe gibt's Umstiegs-Hilfe von Profis.

Glaubt mir: nach wenigen Tagen merkt ihr gar nicht mehr, dass es kein #Windows ist. Habe etliche Verwandte und Bekannte schon auf Linux migriert - war nach der Erst-Installation alles quasi problemlos. Und euer altes #Notebook ist plötzlich wieder total schnell, alte Scanner bekommen wieder Treiberunterstützung und ihr bekommt plötzlich #Privatsphäre zurück.

Als BSI empfehlen wir u.a. einen Wechsel zu einem freien Linux-basierten Betriebssystem.

Das ist insbesondere dann naheliegend, wenn technisch einwandfreie Systeme vom Upgrade auf #Win11 nicht unterstützt werden.

I really think Linux Foundation or a collaboration between distros and DEs should create some website and materials to try and capture the attention of people who don't like Win 11 or just don't want to throw away a perfectly fine PC and buy a new one – and try and help them migrate to Linux

Rising tide lifts all boats, the competition between players should be set aside for the goal of helping as many as possible get to Linux now with EOL for Win10. A unique opportunity!

Wenn #Win10 abgestellt werden soll, überlege ich, ob ich einen #linuxumstieg für meine Eltern (beide 80) wagen soll.
Die beiden sind eigentlich relativ fit, aber inzwischen alt und damit schwindet das Können und die Flexibilität. Für sie ist Office wichtig (und ja, sie sind an Office Ribbons gewöhnt) und zudem benötigen sie zwei spezielle Windowsprogramme.
Der #distrochooser empfiehlt drei Distros, außerdem habe ich mal von #wubuntu bzw. #winux gelesen.
Welche empfehlt ihr und warum?

I just installed Windows 10 Home on a device. I never realized how crappy #Windows has become in my opinion.

My first mistake was connecting it to the internet in the setup wizard, as it then tried to force me to create and sign into a #Microsoft account. I then researched this, but none of the #Win11 tricks worked on #Win10.

I managed to disconnect from the WLAN again by opening the command line (Shift + F10) and typing "netsh wlan disconnect". Afterwards I could create an offline account.
