I arguably give up a lot of control with #Zotero. You *must* sync the metadata via zotero.org, but at least you can sync the PDFs via an own #WebDAV server (but only in a personal account, not in groups!), no version control 😩 anymore, etc.

Zotero is a bit patronizing. Only allows for max 9 *colored* tags, no own server for PDFs in groups, little things here and there that it really wants you to do their way - for the sake of UX. Understandable but a bit hard for control nerds 😅

Recently, for work, I needed to have a simple #WebDAV #server on my development machine for testing purposes. Searching on the internet, I found this project on #GitHub:

It’s a simple, standalone WebDAV server developed with #GoLang. Installation is a breeze if you already have the Go tools, but binaries are also released for many platforms.

There’s a simple configuration file in YAML/JSON/TOML format, and in a few minutes, I could create that configuration file and launch the server.

Really nice and helpful! But if you know other simple WebDAV servers, let also me know!

#macOS 15.4 introduced a bug in their #WebDAV client: If a server reports quota, #Finder will sleep 90s before connecting (which led to timeouts in @cryptomator).

Solution: Don't report any quota (as in linked workaround).

Seriously #Apple, this is ridiculous. This isn't some side effect of bad programming, you need to actively implement such a behaviour. Of course this is neither mentioned in the #ReleaseNotes, nor did the client's version increase.

TIL or relearned that the #Cyrus mailserver I use for decades can also act as #caldav and #carddav server. Even #webdav is supported all including its acl system. @davx5app works instant but as stated otherwise my #iphone from which I want to migrate does not connect. So plan B is to connect #davx5 to icloud and migrate that way. Am stil wondering what I'm doing wrong nevertheless

Jetzt einen sehr einfachen #WebDav drauf gesetzt, ein wenig gemogelt und als #nextcloud getarnt, schwupps funktioniert der Dateiaustausch per offizieller #Feuerwehr-App - aber mit einer Geschwindigkeit, hui, das ist eine Freude. Und das alles über #LTE.

#Jellyfin hat seine Grenzen, klar, bei 0,5 gbyte Arbeitsspeicher, aber es funkrioniert.

#Paperlessngx funktioniert auch super.

#chatmail, #deltachat, zwei #deltabots, ein Einbahn- #FTP-Service für paperless und ein findmydeviceserver laufen auch noch drauf.

Geht alles. Was fehlt gleich noch?🤔

Macht mal Vorschläge! Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

Ich synchronisiere damit seit langem meine Lesezeichen via (eigener) #Nextcloud und über mehrere Betriebssysteme hinweg & es funktioniert einwandfrei. Außer Nextcloud wird #GoogleDrive, #WebDav, #Git & #Linkwarden unterstützt.

Floccus ist als #Addon für verschiedene
#Browser, #iOS und #Android erhältlich.

Usuarios de #obsidian que sincronizáis vuestro contenido con #webdav o similar en vuestro NAS:
He creado un contenedor #docker que permite sincronizar la carpeta WebDav con #git
Esto nos permite tener la simplicidad de sincronización de WebDav, pero la seguridad de Git.
Al final, si borramos algo en WebDav, se pierde en el servidor en cuanto se sincroniza. Pero gracias a Git podremos tener un histórico de todos los cambios.

I see that #Zotero can synchronise across devices using #Webdav. Has anyone tried that and if so, is it reliably working? And if so, could you point to an explanation of how to make it work even if I have no idea of what Webdav is?

(I need to switch from using the Zotero storage because I'm out of space (yes even on a $60/y plan) and need to sync across multiple computers + phone + Boox tablet.)

@mailbox_org #WebDAV hat seine Einschränkungen, insbesondere in Bezug auf Dateigrößen und Timeouts. Es ist ein solides Proto. u. wird häufig in Cloud-Anw. integriert. Für prof. Dateitransfers stößt es jedoch an seine Grenzen. Eine Ergänzung d. SFTP oder FTPS wäre empfehlenswert, da dies eine zuverlässigere Alternative für größere und umfangreichere Übertragungen bietet. Mit d. Erweiterung könnten Sie ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal neben #HiDrive schaffen u. die Lösung noch professioneller gestalten.
