Otherwhere Collective recently asked their customers on how to simplify their (already pretty good) font licensing. Right after their survey ended, they improved their licensing accordingly.
Check out their EOAW! “fonts-in-a-box” license, it webdev-friendly!
@0xabad1dea #TIL that I'm just an LLM bot
I'm using some Russian #typography rules which differs from the same English rules and, sadly , the LLMs tends to use same rules when they comes to the dashes.
In RU typography en-dash used to divide numbers and it doesn't have spaces on the left and right. Like this: 123–456–789.
And the em-dash used to divide parts of sentence and it should have space on the left and right — like this

@jalefkowit Alkali Slim looks like a regular kinda hero, eh.
Can I just take a moment to call out the typography of his second letter "a"?
I don't think I've ever seen one like that before! The curve on the top of the counter is inverted ...

AI is coming for your Fonts, and it may not be a good thing.
Imagine an AI, that takes all the data currently available about you (a LOT) and uses that to create a font, specifically geared towards emotionally manipulating you, in whatever way the publisher chooses, be it an advertisement, a book, or whatever else you happen to read.
Monotype, who own 250,000 fonts, including some of the most popular like Helvetica, sees this as the future.

What is that character in @standupmaths‘s book „Love Traingle“? A question mark, an exclamation mark? A bird, … a plane…?

Would you rather pay up front for a webfont and be done with it?
Or pay monthly/annually?
And would you like to receive the relevant CSS for your webfont, or would you like to figure it out yourself?
Please fill in http://fontstand.com/survey and help make (web)font (licensing) better!
if you are under 30 years old and picking a font size for something other people need to read, not just yourself: that’s too small. still too small. A LITTLE BIGGER
I came across this post that @littlest__freckle works with an #archive called Föreningsarkivet Västernorrland, "which focuses on the workers' movement in northern Sweden" so I went to briefly explore it and came across this poster for the "Elefant-Cirkus" from 1897 that has some amazing #typography

What would be the correct way to handle discretionary ligatures inside Glyphs (especially for arrow symbols)?
I'm currently doing it like this, while also having the original arrow symbols inside the typeface.
Is anybody out there using absolute font sizes in their CSS?
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/absolute-size
I saw @chriscoyier use them at #CSSDay and was wondering if this built-in typographic scale is any good?
