Our workplace uses Slack; not company-wide -- just for a very small number of technical staff. Paid business license and everything.

Did you know that you can't get a list of channels that exist in the workspace without an upper subscription tier?

Let me say that again: The administrator of a paid slack workspace can't get a list of the channels in their own workspace unless they upgrade subscriptions.

What the actual fuck.

From demanding "real names", official IDs, and face scans destroying pseudonymity,

To carefully keeping track of everyone you interact with,

To tracking everything you do on the internet *outside* these platforms linking it back to your profile without your knowledge,

They will now utilize, process, tag, and judge everything you post to feed their AI models or sell it back to someone else's models.

It will only get *worse* from now.

You have no control whatsoever on what will be done with this AI-compiled profile of you later on.

The only solution to stay safe from their insatiable greed is to leave and delete,
before they eat you whole.

Started using #Slack daily again for work. Fortunately it's still exceptionally accessible, I'd say the best #Electron-powered app in matter of #Accessibility, along with #VSCode.

Just a random reminder that just because some proprietary service is offering you a separate "server", it doesn't mean it's decentralized. It just means that the marketing people are looking for suckers.
