My pick this week for #Saturdoom takes us back to medieval times with the band Apocalypse Orchestra. Stately #doomMetal / #folkMetal crossover with a medieval theme from #Sweden. The band avoids all the pitfalls and stereotypes I usually associate with this theme. Instead they bring a truly creative album to bear that sounds like it be heralding the return of the black death. They make extensive use of a hurdy gurdy, adding to their unique sound.

For #Saturdoom I would like to point you to that deep, dark, creepy corner of #doom where #blackMetal, #deathMetal and #doomMetal meet and no-one dares to go. This record will just pulverize your being. The slow chugging of riffs bring it in to the doom realm together with the crushing atmosphere.

I would like this excellent fresh #DeathDoomMetal band from #Spain for this edition of #Saturdoom: Onirophagus. Their new record Revelations from the Void is an excellent way for me to discover this band.

The whole album is a demonstration of how to balance #deathMetal and #doomMetal without loosing focus, but the last song is a magnum opus, clocking in at almost 15 minutes. It truly descents to another level of reality when they add some voidgaze to the mix.
