Without a hint of irony, #Musk accuses #Apple of #antitrust violation, says #xAI will take #legal action
#ElonMusk has accused Apple of engaging in antitrust violations by allegedly making it impossible for any #ArtificialIntelligence company other than #OpenAI to reach the No. 1 spot in its App Store rankings, calling it an "unequivocal antitrust violation."

After weather-related problems: Amazon launches more Kuiper satellites
A Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX launched 24 more Kuiper satellites into orbit. Amazon's space internet constellation now comprises 102 satellites.

@mtaht's obituary in The Internet Protocol Journal was published on the page 34! We are really thankful to Ole J. Jacobsen and @internetsociety for this:

So, is the #starlink satellites burning up during reentry, releasing metal particles, thus destroying our ozone layer something similar to the #oilindustry doing research in the 70s that confirmed GHGs were harming/would warm the climate? Does it just get swept under the rug as the damage adds up? (Rhetorical)
I mean, that HAD to have researched this if other experts are aware of the risks. Right?
I'm really looking forward to explaining to my kids that we can't go outside because 'the sun is too spicy today'.

These men have understood that #space, the "up there", is like really really Huge, so dropping just a little bit of something into it can't possibly be a problem. It's kinda like with the oceans, you know. Not a prob.

#kessler #starlink #satellites #Musk #stupidity
#Starlink is deliberately de-orbiting older satellites to ‘burn up’ in the pristine upper atmosphere.
‘Burn up’ actually means ‘leave a bunch of metal vapour in the upper atmosphere’.

quote
Before the first Starlink launches began in 2019, only about 40 to 50 satellites re-entered per year. SpaceX just brought down ten years' worth in only six months, adding an estimated 15,000 kilograms of aluminum oxide to the upper atmosphere.

Scientists are only just studying what this may do to the atmosphere (and life on earth). Early indications are not good.
People should be *really* worried about this and keep an eye out for future updates. Especially given the #USA seems to be turning into a lawless joke.

"#SpaceX just conducted a giant uncontrolled experiment in atmospheric #chemistry. Earlier this year, analysts noticed something strange: #Starlink #satellites were falling out of the sky--a lot of them. What’s going on? In short: routine housecleaning. What’s not usual is the atmospheric fallout."
