Those of you who of a certain age who grew up in #Britain will understand why this is something I've wanted to do for near 40 years, but never got a chance when I was younger (the school tended to keep these Coombers locked down) - and it just happened that #RadioCaroline were playing this track today
It’s going to be a while before I find a QSL card for my #VintageQSLcard collection that I prize more highly than this one: A Radio Caroline QSL card postmarked 1967. #RadioHistory #QSLcard #RadioCaroline #Radio #PirateRadio #PirateRadioStation #AMradio #KE0FFTpirateRadio #KE0FFT
The old boy is still going strong, heard this on #RadioCaroline a couple of evenings ago...
Nick Lowe - Trombone
Hearing 'Changing Man' by Paul Weller on the radio hasn't done anything good for my rather low mood this morning.
I generally enjoy the #RadioCaroline #topfifteen as a way to get the day going - but this morning the selection is seriously depressing!
I suppose it makes a change from the usual guitar riffs.
(No - I haven't submitted my top 15 because I could only find about 6 tracks in the list of permitted albums).
So - I'm going in the garden to listen to the pigeons and dig holes for hydrangeas!
This unofficial #RadioCaroline relay has been active again on 87,8 MHz over the last few days - it turns out that this is a fairly common practice in #EastAnglia and has happened sporadically over the last few years (Caroline isn't on DAB+ in this region) #PirateRadio #FM #Suffolk
I wonder who is relaying #RadioCaroline round here on Band II (87,8 MHz) ? No RDS, but clean signal and they seem to have a couple of watts behind the TX (appears to be in the rural area somewhere). #PirateRadio #FM #Suffolk
I've just heard the full album version of Time by #PinkFloyd on the radio.
It very nearly reduced me to a blubbering wreck.
Such a great song.
Here is the device in action playing #RadioCaroline from internal MW radio player and the preset for 648 KHz. The sound quality is just right for the AM radio (Caroline have recently started expanding their audio bandwidth to 10 KHz)
#Coomber PA #radio #cassette recorder arrived today - it has a 8" twin cone speaker (originally intended for #school assembly halls), tape deck still works and a bonus is preset #MW tuner has not just 693 and 909 KHz but 648 KHz (BBC World Service) so its perfect for #RadioCaroline
#sound is mono and not quite hifi (there's a bit of hiss), but a decent amount of volume.
Will make aux input cable for it tomorrow when my DIN plugs arrive (haven't soldered one for 30+ years!)
Visting my relatives in #Caversham again and listening to #RadioCaroline on the #Philips D-2122 #receiver from #Malaysia before bed - some QRM from a Spanish PSB and fading, but the 648 KHz signal from #Orfordness is getting across 186 km #radio #AM #MW
Got another analogue #radio for my collection, a Philips D2122 made in #Malaysia in 1988 - this is it in action receiving #RadioCaroline on MW from Mid #Suffolk, and playing Howard Jones "Pearl in the Shell" #1980s
Equipment returned in early 1990s (after the 1989 raid on the #RossRevenge ) to #RadioCaroline from the Netherlands #PTT Radiocontroledienst (now the RDI) #OffshoreRadio #PirateRadio
