Jonatan<p>With USB/IP, I can now use my YubiKey remotely via SSH in the same way as I was sitting in front of my machine. Both in early boot stage (initrd); unlocking LUKS encrypted filesystem, and in booted system stage; signing git commits and authenticate to GitHub. Great! But what about using FIDO2/WebAuthn via RDP to log in to web services? USB redirection is not supported for xrdp. Is there any workarounds coming up to for example redirect WebAuthn from one machine to another?</p><p><a href="https://defcon.social/tags/yubikey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>yubikey</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/fido2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fido2</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/usbip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>usbip</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/rdp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rdp</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/nixos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixos</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a></p>

OTX Bot<p>Backdoor implant discovered on PyPI posing as debugging utility</p><p>A sophisticated malicious package named 'dbgpkg' was detected on PyPI, masquerading as a Python debugging utility. The package implants a backdoor on systems, enabling execution of malicious code and data exfiltration. It uses function wrapping techniques to evade detection and is believed to be part of a larger campaign possibly linked to a hacktivist group known as Phoenix Hyena. The campaign also includes other packages like 'discordpydebug' and 'requestsdev'. The attackers' motivation appears to be geopolitical, potentially related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The use of specific backdooring techniques and tools like Global Socket Toolkit indicates a high level of sophistication and an intent to establish long-term presence on compromised systems.</p><p>Pulse ID: 68264a9cb2b105513148d978<br>Pulse Link: <a href="https://otx.alienvault.com/pulse/68264a9cb2b105513148d978" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">otx.alienvault.com/pulse/68264</span><span class="invisible">a9cb2b105513148d978</span></a> <br>Pulse Author: AlienVault<br>Created: 2025-05-15 20:12:12</p><p>Be advised, this data is unverified and should be considered preliminary. Patrick Leavy<p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>homelab</span></a> peeps! I'm going all in on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a>, having just set up a 'brick' (NUC-style mini PC) and flashed <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmint</span></a> onto it.</p><p>It's all working well as a home server using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a>, and (when I can work out how to use <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Docker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Docker</span></a> lol) I'll start using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Immich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Immich</span></a> too. </p><p>The next challenge is setting up remote access to the brick. Does anyone here know how to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RDP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RDP</span></a> into a Mint machine?</p>
Amadeus Paulussen<p>Are any of you by any chance using <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gnomeconnections" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnomeconnections</span></a> to connect from one <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> machine to another via <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/rdp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rdp</span></a>?</p><p>I have two problems and thought you might have some suggestions for me. 🫣</p><p>1. I can only connect if the target machine is unlocked.<br>2. I get a scrambled keyboard layout when connected (<a href="https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/connections/-/issues/82" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/connect</span><span class="invisible">ions/-/issues/82</span></a>)</p>
maple<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@patrickleavy" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>patrickleavy</span></a></span> I don't know anything about <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> but if you can use <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/RDP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RDP</span></a> that often works better than <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/VNC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VNC</span></a> anyway, for example in some cases it will let you hear any sound playing on the remote system, whereas VNC will not. But on some systems RDP just doesn't seem to want to work, for example on a <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> 12 system I have running XFCE I could not get RDP to work but VNC works fine, whereas on <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ubuntu</span></a> 24.04 it's the other way around, at least in my experience. <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Remmina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Remmina</span></a> is a good RDP client for <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> (I think it may be cross-platform, but don't hold me to that) if you need one.</p>
