In summer last year, #Barcelona #PublicTransit operator presented some "AI powered #bus stops", which were supposed to roll out earlier this year in a testing phase. The first one that's been installed (and spotted) is not yet powered up and doesn't have the solar panel it was supposed to have.

This seems like yet another way to shove in the AI buzzword into random stuff, as most (aka all) of the things this is supposed to do can be done without using AI.

The "North Coast Express" pilot project bus route from the Sunset Transit Center to the Oregon northern coast has started up.

With just 2 buses, the schedule is quite complicated. The cost is $35 regardless of one-way or round trip. This is just a pilot project, so maybe it won't work out, but they need a dedicated bus just doing a loop on the northern coast.

#Cowichan Valley residents adapt to life without #PublicTransit as strike enters 4th month.
#PeopleWithDisabilities , #students & #seniors struggle with the lack of options for #transportation in the Cowichan Valley.

#UniforLocal114 & #UniforLocal333BC the union representing 44 drivers, mechanics& cleaners, have been on strike since Feb. 8. They are advocating for wages similar to their counterparts in Victoria, better access to washroom facilities & more consistent breaks. #Workers have since voted against a new contract with their employer, #TransDev & the strike reaches 105 days, there is still no end in sight. As a result of the strike, #transit in the Cowichan Valley has been on hold, interfering with where and how people move through the community. #HandyDart services are still available but only for medical appointments related to renal dialysis, cancer treatment & multiple sclerosis.

So if you thought that people using loudspeakers in #PublicTransit are the only problem, I've just discovered a new kind of people — these using game consoles with awfully loud fans (my PC isn't that loud, and it's compiling Gentoo!), and on top of that blowing them straight at you.

I'm always amazed that the folks in cars complain about a #bikeLane but never realize that more bikes means fewer cars in front of them slowing down traffic.

Just like urban buses and trains should be paid for by folks in #SUV, its the #car drivers that get the benefit of more folks taking public transit not the poor person trying to find exact change.

We don't need better ways to collect the fare, we need a more fair way to fund the #publicTransit; system; #bus, #train and #bike.

Did you know that the Toronto Zoo used to run a monorail (ish)?

The 5.6km transit system closed down in 1994. However the concrete structure that supported the rail is still around in the middle of the forest near Scarborough/Rouge Park.

I knew it was reachable because of an old reddit post and also because we can see it from Google Maps.

But I didn't know "how" to get there. So with a few friends we decided to find out

A little ray of sunshine for me for the past 2 or 3 years has been Tram-EU, the European tram-driving championships. I have a friend who was a SF BART conductor and know there are transit "rodeo" competitions in the US, but Tram-EU is broadcast live on the web and just looks like so much fun.

Apparently they're extending it to the world in Vienna this year. tramem.eu/blog/de-wien-2025-en #PublicTransport #PublicTransit
