To the people who have pets but then don't let them on furniture, sleep in bed with you, give kisses, or even (and this one I think is obviosly cruel) not let them in the house because it's "unhygenic" I kinda think you're a bad person. Why sign up to be leader of a pack and then reject that poor animal's signs of affection and love? Children are filthy, would you have kids and then treat them that way?
If you're gonna be a germaphobe maybe caring for animals isn't your jam
