@ldubost This is just another great example of why no EU entity, be it a private citizen, government organization, or company should depend on non-EU cloud providers.

The best day to switch was yesterday, the second best day to switch is today. There are many alternatives within the EU.

TIL that for some godforsaken reason Google has killed off the
Android File Transfer app - and now the url redirects to a new Windows only app 🤨

Luckily once again #oss comes to the rescue, found a decent alternative (which is actually 10x better than the original)

🌟 It’s #MaintainerMonth

💬 Ask any long-time Apereo volunteer why they support the Foundation, and they’ll almost always say: the people.

Maintainers are more than just contributors—they’re stewards of community-driven innovation. Their work ensures the stability, scalability, and sustainability of tools that empower educators and learners around the world.

We say thank you to the maintainers who make it all possible. 🌍💙

One thing I don't understand is why everyone is moving from #GitHub to other services like #Codeberg, #GitLab, #SourceHut, etc.

I mean GitHub just works, doesn't it?

It's annoying when dependencies or projects I use switch from GitHub to another service because it breaks building on that specific project and then I have to go fix it.

Can anyone explain what's going on? Thought about switching too, but thought it'd be too disruptive.

“AWS-LC looks like a very active project with a strong community. […] Even the recently reported performance issue was quickly fixed and released with the next version. […] This is definitely a library that anyone interested in the topic should monitor.”

In Feb 2025 the opensourcedesign.net/ team applied for a devroom to host speakers on design in OSS topics and we succeeded in welcoming 8 fantastic speakers to Brussels in Feb 2025

Here's some comments we had from attendees of the Open Source Design Devroom in 2025.

To anyone out there who’s successfully convinced someone else to switch from a mainstream app / service to a self-hosted / indie / #FOSS alternative:

What worked?

Pitching this kind of switch could become a core part of my business soon. I’d love to know what aspects of such a change have the broadest appeal!

(Boosts much appreciated 🙏)
