I found it, um, amusing, that @organicmaps calls this a "bridle path", presumably because it is labeled "horse=yes". (On #OSM.) It is entirely legal to bring your horse up this rocky, brushy trail with random big steps. If it is wise will depend on the horse. Seasoned stock out of California's Sierra Nevada may manage this piece of the Trinity Alps, but most aren't going to like it. Maybe if I added something like "horse_scale=critical", it would help?

This absurdly hard trail up to Alpine Lake in #TrinityAlpsWilderness is my contribution to #FootpathFriday today. Behold the granite!

Mapcomplete.org ist getting better and better.

A few days ago I discovered that its possible to add manmade bird nests. I was standing near a stork's nest when I found the topic. And directly added a picture.

I also found by chance that beehives can be added. And that there are also viewpoints to add under the theme of nature.

It would be nice if there was some information and not find by chance.

something new thats still hidden under some Theme?

Or should a review represent a single visit, encouraging people to write about multiple visits (and orders) through multiple reviews?

So Organic Maps continues to develop new features, CoMaps does some of their own improvements, restyles a bit and continues to get the new features from Organic Maps. This idea of 'forking' seems so strange, it'll be interesting to see how it develops.

𝗤𝗚𝗜𝗦 users can now integrate 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 also in the mobile app 𝗤𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱.

Thanks to the release of a new plugin, all main functions of openrouteservice can be used in QField, such as generating routes for different means of transport profiles.

The first basic version of the plugin, developed by HeiGIT in collaboration with OPENGIS.ch, can be found here: https://github.com/GIScience/qfield-orstools

It seems #MagicEarth are at least listening to the user community and holding off on the switch to a paid app for #Android until they can find some payment method that doesn't require Google service (I hope this doesn't mean that development stalls until they can get their revenue stream)

IMO if fhey are charging for it the app they should have a full website portal with payment facility *and* access to support with a ticketing system and facility to add crowdsourced map updates (rather than expecting endusers to work out which is #OSM and which is #Foursquare or other third parties), and not relying just on email or worse, Reddit) - basically all that #TomTom *used* to have not that long ago but abandoned...

Le projet de recherche est super intéressant. On est sur de la génération semi-automatique de carte en relief (pour des carrefours) à partir d’OpenStreetMap avec de la vocalisation pour les personnes déficientes visuelles.

Je ne sais pas si le projet continuera après les thèses déjà soutenues en 2024 par contre.
