Aerion<p>Some 5 years ago, I decided to finally <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/degoogle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>degoogle</span></a>, <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/demeta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>demeta</span></a> and <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/demicrosoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>demicrosoft</span></a> my life.</p><p>As I'm a longstanding believer in <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/foss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>foss</span></a>, I then went a step further and replaced as many proprietary apps and services as possible with <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> and <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/libre" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libre</span></a> equivalents. </p><p>Even though <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Mozilla" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mozilla</span></a> owned <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Pocket" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pocket</span></a> already by then, the fact that it wasn't (fully) open source meant it had to go too. Some research led me to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@wallabag" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>wallabag</span></a></span>, and I've not looked back since.</p><p>Sadly, the various articles recommending alternatives to Pocket that have popped up since its demise, make little to no mention of <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Wallabag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wallabag</span></a>.</p><p>It's the *perfect* replacement: it's open source, you can <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/selfhost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhost</span></a>, it offers both <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a> and <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/iOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iOS</span></a> apps, as well as a web client, and for those looking for a hosted service it's *by far* the cheapest option out there at just €11 a year.</p><p>For those <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/selfhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosting</span></a>, please consider supporting this great project by donating at least €11 a year, the cost of an annual hosted subscription.</p>
