Today's theme for #JMusicFriday is "For the noob"... a song for people new to JMusic

As @nazokiyoubinbou pointed out, it really depend on who is asking and their own music tastes.

But one unit that cut from the typical "JPop" sound while still staying an idol group is There There Theres. (Also Bellring but it's weirder)

They may not like it, but, at least, they get that JMusic is not always a derivative of Babymetal and KPP...

I'm not quite 100% sure how to answer this #JMusicFriday theme of #ForTheNoob since the only thing I can think of to answer someone new to Japanese music would be to try to figure out what style music they like and suggest something I know of with that style.

I guess I'll go with this: youtube.com/watch?v=3bNpHADFGTY

Many people who don't know much about Japanese music assume it's all the stuff they know about in pop. Especially they might think of the super silly stuff like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (who even made it into Simpsons...) I might like to introduce some people to the fact that there are all kinds out there, including this nice, somewhat grungy sounding rock, so I might introduce someone to something like this just to say "hey, it's not all silly pop!"

yesterday a song popped in my playlist, from cranky's rave-slave 2019 album.
but the thing is this song was one of the first you could unlock in the now deceased game SEVEN's CODE.
it brought back an old
#memory of playing this game when it was still up...
https://youtu.be/FuwHz3tXk88
and conveniently, this is also the theme of today's
#jmusicfriday. But it was also a big theme of the game, where you first awoke with no memories, in a body that's not yours, and each chapter you have a new body, and try to find out who you are through the fragment of memories of the people you posses.
the game was really awesome, and it was the thing that made me become a big hater of SaaS, especially since they could've easily made it offline, but they didn't.

With this week's #JMusicFriday being themed #HatsuneMiku I'm tempted to cheat and just post one of the many many many many #utaite covers of various #Vocaloid songs I listen to every single day (no small number of which were originally using Miku.)

But maybe I'll do something a little more interesting this time:

This was a super early cover by #YanagiNagi (original NND post in 2008!) I consider this not to be cheating because Miku's voice is still left in there in a number of parts. It's also really neat because this is one of those super early covers hailing back to truly different times. EDIT: I made a mistake. But anyway, she did collab with Ryo in album releases under Supercell even if not as an official member.

when i saw that the theme for #jmusicfriday was #oldpeople, this song immediately popped into my mind:

just for this single sample that's played twice:

getting old is a lot like walking down a street that you never walked down before. you never know what's around the next corner. Some of the things might be great!
that's exactly how i want to get old.
