Such a striking contrast between the two though. I really need to get a G3 and G4 for my collection.</p>
hambier<p>Today I "inherited" an ancient <a href="https://mastodon.opencloud.lu/tags/iMac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iMac</span></a> ("late 2013"). No support by its manufacturer, no support for the obsolete OS version by other software vendors. EoL. E-waste.</p><p>I connected an external USB3 SSD (34€) and installed <a href="https://mastodon.opencloud.lu/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> Mint on it. Everything worked flawlessly out of the box. It even boots automatically from the SSD without any configuration (possibly because I nuked MacOS). It runs *great*. Almost too boring.</p><p>I'm (again) horrified that we let MS and Apple off the hook this easily.</p>
