The #SLS project is about $6 billion 💰 over budget and six years behind schedule ⏳😴 , according to a #government audit, with reports suggesting it is “50-50” whether Mr Trump scraps the programme. In a city where around 10 per cent 📊 of the 225,000 population work for the government, there is concern among residents that they could be in the eye of the #Doge storm 🌪️ telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025/0

The bipartisan ask for an investigation comes after staffers at 18 crisis centers told ProPublica payments were delayed for months and led to cuts, some of which continue to limit urgent, potentially lifesaving services.

"It’s not a moment for national pride that [Maya] Angelou’s [I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings] is being purged from a military academy.

And it is a moment to acknowledge that the attack on DEI by the Trump administration, and by many on today’s right, is not some kind of good-faith reconsideration of the excesses of the DEI industry over the last couple of decades."

"His tariff regime isn’t based on material calculations; it’s not really meant to shift wealth to oligarchs, or to enrich billionaires, or to boost US industry. Instead, tariffs are a response to his own endlessly repeated self-aggrandizing fascist lies.

The rest of the world is out to get us. We must conquer them. It’s a story Trump likes to tell himself."

"When we see the charts of a straight downward trajectory, they also summarize what’s happening with cancer and Alzheimer’s research, academic freedom, national security, basic rights, the rule of law, America’s standing in the world, and so much more. If we could measure each, they would all look the same.

Trump’s chaos, extremism and incompetence are destroying them all."

"For the past few days everyone has understandably been focused on tariffs and the destruction of the world trading system. But in the long run, and maybe much sooner than that, the dire impacts of tariffs may be matched by the havoc Trumpism is wreaking in other areas."

Paul Krugman · Attack of the Quack-Industrial ComplexBy Paul Krugman

Multiple commentators today note that while we focus on Trump's attempt to crash the economy, we mustn't forget his and his followers' intent to crash everything around us.

Jason Sattler:

"If you work from the assumption that Donald Trump knows what he's doing and all he's doing is trying to break democracy to maximize his domination of America and the free world, everything becomes much more straightforward."

The names/trademarks/insignia are definitely protected.

But I thought the content - images etc - couldn't be. Everything created by the US government and its agencies is ineligible for copyright - or at least that's been the common understanding.

The policy page you point to even seems to confirm this:

"NASA content – images, audio, video, and media files used in the rendition of 3-dimensional models, such as texture maps and polygon data in any format – generally are not subject to copyright in the United States."
