European companies are sounding the alarm over the strong euro, as the currency’s surge against the dollar this year opens up a new threat to exporters.

Software group SAP, carmaker Porsche, brewer Heineken and industrial giant Schneider Electric are among the companies to warn investors of a potential hit after the euro climbed more than 9% to a three-year high.

UK supermarkets call for a EU-UK deal on plant and animal exports.

Some of Britain’s biggest supermarkets and food producers, including Marks and Spencer and J Sainsbury, have called on the EU to agree a deal with the UK government to help smooth exports of plant and animal products across the English Channel.

Dutch ministers ramp up controls on weapons exports to Israel.

The Dutch government will now assess exports of military equipment and dual-use goods to Israel on a case-by-case basis, following the collapse of a ceasefire in the Middle East.

“This is desirable given the security situation in Israel, the Palestinian Territories and the broader region,” said the trade and foreign ministers.
