It's sentences like this that raise Pepys's diary into high literature. The laconic counting of the child deaths that take place in his immediate circle, recorded as plain fact without embroidery, all emotion merely implied and being so much deeper for it. Worthy of Plutarch.
Looking at how we allowed our rulers to remove all #covid mitigations, with the next #pandemic we will have to learn counting like Pepys.
