BBC Radio 4<p>Benjamin Zephaniah's visit to Radio 4's desert island was 25 years ago. It's a lovely programme - and his first choice of music is by his friend Sinéad O'Connor, lost to us only a few months ago herself.</p><p>It's on BBC Sounds <a href="https://bbc.in/3Rzc5NP" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">bbc.in/3Rzc5NP</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.bbc/tags/poetry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poetry</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/performance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>performance</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/literature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>literature</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/poet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poet</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/obituary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>obituary</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/DesertIslandDiscs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DesertIslandDiscs</span></a></p>
BBC Radio 4<p>Adelaide Hall was born on this day 122 years ago today. She performed around the world, moved to Britain in 1938 and became a big star, entertaining the troops in wartime. When she was 71 and still working hard, she recorded her first Desert Island Discs.</p><p>From this clip it's obvious that presenter and music nut Roy Plomley knew and loved her work.</p><p><a href="https://bbc.in/45HrAqu" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">bbc.in/45HrAqu</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.bbc/tags/jazz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jazz</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/AdelaideHall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AdelaideHall</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/DesertIslandDiscs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DesertIslandDiscs</span></a> <a href="https://social.bbc/tags/Broadway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Broadway</span></a></p>
