Mum helped me with some groceties, which meant that I have a bit more for Arwen now.

Currently, I'm at **€75/€112**, so I'm slowly getting closer!

I will need to pick up the meds this Monday, just after my bday....

I know I could make it work somehow, I *have* to make it work as she just **needs** the meds. And I'd do anything for her...

And I hate asking for help... I wish I was rich enough to "just" be able to buy all the meds she needs... But heck, yesterday I crashed to the floor because I'd forgotten that my PC chair had died just before my PC had died . So yeah....

My old gaming laptop runs on Kubuntu. I've browsed the "store" for a simple app to help me with my finances.

Due to my ADHD, I struggle with the funds I have. And the situation changed due to my moving and a new year bringing new bills.

I'd like to get a better grip/idea on my income and bills. I've never done something like this, so I'm both a newb (and a n00b too).

Which finances app for Kubuntu would you advice that I'd try out??

I don't have spoons to try them all, so the easier to use, the better it will be for me

I'm doing my best to make ends meet. I know that I've bought some things for myself lately... But not as much as I'd like to... (edit: I don't mean spoil myself crazy, I mean things like some clothes that would fit me properly )

I had some savings for Arwen. It wasn't much, as since December 2023 I had been preparing for the move. I've used funds for the new home, as moving is never cheap, and you often need new things to make the new house your own.

Then Arwen got a bad ear infection, and that took out all the savings I had. I was desperate, as the bills kept coming. I had a GoFundMe and I got some great support form the community here! It greatly overwhelmed me, and I was so blown away with all the kindness.

The war infection seems to be under control. But during the cause of the treatment, we realized that Arwen was struggling a lot with pain due to arthritis. There are meds for this, so we tried them. And they really helped! But... They need to be administered every four weeks and they're not too cheap.

Depending if she needs a checkup, the costs are between €80-€130 every four weeks...

I'm doing my best to make ends meet, and my mum is helping when she can... But I do need some money for some things, and saving is very hard when you have a disability income and the vet costs...

I try to live economically. Don't have the heating too high. Drive a small hybrid car. Not eating the most expensive foods (heck I don't even like those... ). But it's still hard to save and I do need certain things (like good prescription sunglasses and new shoes for Skoosh, and some new clothes could be nice as some are wearing thin ). None of this comes cheap...

So I'm swallowing my pride again, and I've set up the Ko-fi for support with Arwen. Every little bit would help me tremendously. I can't pay it forward money wise, but I always do my best to help people when I can!

Ello Linux Wizards! This may be a silly question, but when I try to ask the Duck, it only talks about bootable options, and I don't need that...

I was downloading something for a friend who has limited internet. I started this on my PC, but as you may know, it died on me and it's hard to find a decent repair shop...

So I want to see if I can download the things on my old laptop instead, but it's only running Linux.

Can I use a USB, transfer the files, and get the USB to my friend, and can they use it then on their Windows laptop???

It will contain some video files in formats that Windows can handle. But I don't know if using a USB on Linux will cause it to be unreadable by Windows. So before I try to make my friend happy with something that won't work, I thought I'd better ask...

I'm trying again!
Some may remember the ssd/bios issues I have with my old laptop.
So a kind Linux user suggested me trying Kubuntu, as it allows me to choose where to install, and I could pick the drive that my bios will see, so I can select it.
But now I'm getting all these options and I'm clueless!!!

The SanDisk are the ssd ones that the bios can't see for some reason...

But I have no idea what to select here!

The disk can be cleaned to use for the OS. But I'll also need to use the rest of that drive for my files and apps and such...
What should I do with the master boot selection??? Remember the bios doesn't see the ssd ones (and I have no idea why! The bios seems very limited, probably due to microsoft pushing their software to the msi folks - it's an msi laptop).

Please help, as I don't wanna mess this up and my anxiety already rises because I don't know what to do here...

Sometimes... When I see people writing about software, mostly Linux, and all it's options... I wish that there would be someone near me that could visit me, sit down with me, help me get Linux to my old laptop, and explain it all to me like I was a 5 year old.... Although I fear a 5 year old would get better with it than me!

A few months ago I asked for info to get my poor ancient laptop running on Linux.

I got buried with advice and help!!!

It was amazing! I was so overwhelmed!

But my tech talk is like "switch it on and it needs to work". I learn by doing... I'm bad at learning from reading or watching a vid...

If anyone knows a Linux wizard near Oss (the Netherlands) that would be willing and able to do the tech support at home....... I don't have money, hence the old laptop... I do have coffee or tea and I can make sure there will be (edible) cookies!

I know it's a long shot.... But hey, gotta try if other things don't work...

I'm so sorry to have to ask for help. But I'm so worried about Arwen, and I'm so sad to see her struggle...
I wish I didn't have to ask for help...
But I've stepped over the big pile of shame and I started this GoFundMe.

It's set up in Dutch, but it tells all that I've been sharing here.

The nasty infection that's now in both her ears. That her piggy bank is empty, and my savings have been used for the house/move.

I'm asking for help with the vet bills, for testing, consults and medications.

Arwen is my best friend, she saved me from suicide, she's all I have... She's the sweetest soul you'll ever meet and she deserves the best! Which I now can't give her...

Please help me when you can! I'm so sorry to ask this... But I want to provide the best for Arwen and I feel I'm letting her down.

I was wondering.... I know of myself that I'm a night owl. I love being awake during the night as things are more calm for me then... I sleep during late afternoon and evening and am awake during the night, morning and part of the afternoon...

But am I an exception?

I know I can do this because I have no work obligations. I know that work often requires you to adhere to a steady routine where the work hours are honorated.
But if you don't work, or if you could choose the hours, how would your routine look like?

I only made two options. Sleep during the "normal" night and different.
I've added a "different and comment" one for people who would like to elaborate. Maybe they want to have a different routine, but they can't due to work... So they need to have a "normal" routine but they'd prefer the different one...
I'll add an option where you can just see the results.
But I hope that you'll vote (and maybe also boost? ).

I've always been very sensitive to several things, but this relates to sounds.

A sweet friend suggested the Loop earplugs to me. And, to be honest, I have looked them up several times before. But... I rather ask my Fedi friends this question:

Are you NeuroSpicy and preferably with tinnitus and... Have you got any experience with Loops ?

If you are ND and don't have tinnitus, I'll still eager to learn about your experience!

What kind do you use? I saw so many of them... What do they do for you? And, also very important (hence my addition of the tinnitus bit): are you more aware of the tinnitus sounds when you're wearing the Loops?

My fear is that not only the bad sounds get filtered, but also the "good white noise", that I will become more focused/aware on/of the 24/7 hours of beeping in both my ears.

I'm so used to walking everywhere. But with the new town, it's way smaller and I'll need to go further for my daily things... It's too much to walk, so I'd need the bike or Skoosh. I prefer a bike over the car, as it's better for the environment and better for my health...
But my current bike is 20 years old and definitely in need of TLC, which will cost some money for sure...
With the distances I'll need to travel, I'd prefer to have some "help along the way", especially when my fibro acts up and I need to get back home. So an eBike would be great for that.
I've checked many sites and drooled all over my screen with some of the bikes I saw... But most of them cost more than my first car did! So I've been looking for an affordable one with good reviews. I found one for €1500.

Hopefully I can save some money after the move is done. But it will take a long time and I could really use it. I *would* really use it, especially to get to the gym (11,4 km single way from my new home) and to the bigger supermarkets.

If you could help me save for this in any way... It would be so welcome. And I'd be more grateful than I could ever express in words or emojis...

But I like them to be round, with just the colors floating arund the still image in a circle, not a square.
