I fear the half sunk #boat was robbed by people *from* the #boating "community" - most of the things nicked are of little use to those on land and would require effort to remove, knowledge of how to deal with a half-sunken vessel without ending up in the canal or river yourself in cold weather (which can be life-threatening, I lost a good friend that way) - it shows the hidden desperation of some of those living this kind of lifestyle..

He found a little lake . . . well, it was rather a large lake, but the size isn't what mattered, it was the silence. The silence and the mountains that encircled the lake, the sunlight that skimmed like a sprite across the water, the trees that stood like sentinels on the bank and watched him as he slowly, easily, calmly glided through the rich, deep blue.

The Point Reyes at Low Tide II

The Point Reyes is a weathered and abandoned boat that sits partially submerged in the calm waters of Tomales Bay. It had been a few years since I was last out to visit here. I was really surprised to see how much more she had decayed. The bow is completely severed now and the hull has finally given way to the weight of the cabin.

The Point Reyes At Low Tide II The Point Reyes is an old fishing boat that broke loose from it's dock during a storm many years ago. It washed up onto this sandbar at the south end of Tomales Bay by the town of Inverness. The foreground of the image is the sandbar that the boat came to a rest on many years ago. The boats bow is now crushed. You can see the hull is missing a number of planks. The cabin is leaning as it sits on the now crushed hull. Most of the paint is now gone or heavily faded. Beyond the boat is the still waters of Tomales Bay and the rolling hills of Marin County.
