You need not have been an RFF Artist to participate, but as with everything we have ever done and will do, we will vet participants to make sure no one is punching down so we can be as inclusive, comfy and friendly to our diverse community of artists and friends.
For this series all performances will be primarily hosted and main chat will be on the RFF video channel. Artists may also simulcast to their own #beYourOwnPlatform servers or wherever else they like or need to be.

Maybe not that new, but @prinlu designed and made stickers for #BeYourOwnPlatform that I spotted in the wild here:
Where are you supposed to do your boasting, if you’ve left Instagram? My solution: move your best humblebrags to yer own website.

This includes the interview from my recent Cover Gurl routine on The Goo magazine.
Extremely happy about this huge update to
#BeYourOwnPlatform site dedicated to artists' digital autonomy. There's a lot more to be done, reorganize content into a better form, but this marks a big milestone. It's now in at least decent form.
I have added a lot from my presentations from last year, but now I also have more ideas how to shape this further.
Ahoy friends, negative void #introduction time.
We are continuing some community resources exploring options for artist agency, solidarity and support started under #radioFreeFedi.
Our primary offering is help and support for building and/or hosting #faircamp sites for artists who may not have the space or desire to do so on their own.
If you're an artist who doesn't punch down we'll do what we can to help in a donate what you can model.
or
Help us remove barriers of time, tech, spoons, coin for artists exploring tools for better agency. Not a muso but like helping pro-artist things? You might donate as a sponsor to enable us to build and/or host for artists that may not have the means to contribute.
Faircamp is an open static site generation too enabling artists to have portable and host on practically any web space bundles for more directly previewing, sharing, and offering our art and voices.
It's not a social integration/platform nor a shopping cart, however many of us have had good experiences with appreciative support through offering Faircamp. It is a friendly and viable tool to consider having amongst the hate buffet of platforms we must navigate as artists and listeners.
It's self determined, not doing weird things with our work and can strongly offer listeners options to pay/donate for our work and receive well-tagged artist approved non-DRM downloads.
Faircamp had a large burst of updates and improvements recently and is quite responsive to artist feedback. We have process setup and tested for the classic and new things it can do for a single track through to labels and multi moniker catalogues.
Check out our site for more info and to check out some example artists' sites. Previous RFF addresses will continue working throughout this year.
DM here or email via the site if you'd like to discuss any help or end-to-end setup/hosting for a Faircamp bundle for your music.
Stay vertical out there and support an indie artist today.
- use ethical social media (like fedi) instead of corporate social media.
- write a blog.
- post videos on the blog with native html-players not youtube embeds.
- have an rss feed and an email newsletter. share on fedi.
- tell your friends, and tell other people about your friends.
In the spirit of #community, comraderie, #joinIn and #beYourOwnPlatform we're keeping the end of year series of live events and hangouts going.
More distributed this year like recent series, with no single marathon .
Opportunities to be together quietly, or festively loud for anyone needing a virtual crew this time of year and friendly fun for all.
If you have an idea/plan for an original/consented stream please *DM* and we'll align you with a host venue if needed.
this seems an important point: "self-hosting = I get to choose who provides my services"

Also, I’ve gradually been adding suggestions from folks here (and hope to pop a few more on there each week). It’s starting to fill up nicely!
it's #FairTradeMusic friday!
find artist's homepages downloads donate buttons newsletters #FairCamp bandcamps #mirlo #jamcoop fediverse accounts owncast and peertube and matrix channels...,
in other words support their effort to run a sustainable long-term platform-agnostic decentralized federated communication with audiences and, above all else, struggles towards network and financial autonomy
PS: and cancel that spotify account, will ya?
Dear #MusiciansDay,
I’ve been writing idiosyncratic #franglophone alt-pop-rock songs for a few decades now, and am stoked by the indie music scene on the #fediverse.
Proud contributor and fan of #RadioFreeFedi, #fedivision, #fediwave, #bonkwave, #notBonkwave, #Faircamp, #BeYourOwnPlatform, etc.
Thrilled to have met so many cool, talented and original musicians around here.
Check out my pinned posts for my latest stuff, or visit my handmade music site, https://sknob.fr/music.
Best,

My photography website is online!
I didn’t replace Instagram when I quit my account in 2021: now my photos have a home.
I’m very happy and proud, with infinite gratitude to Simone for helping me so much @m2m
The site is good enough to be published, and will be designed in the open.
Notes:
- it’s a blog.
- It has an RSS feed.
- it will be regularly updated.
Hope you enjoy it!
Last weekend, @composergreg and I made some #live, improvised #ambient #music
You can listen/download on my #faircamp site, or check out the #performance video.
Making ambient music together (or, at all, really!) is a first for us. Let us know what you think. And keep circulating the tapes!

I finally got round to adding more of my back catalog to Mirlo and then tried doing my first update post on the system.
https://mirlo.space/james-hastings/releases
I found it super easy and I've started thinking about using it as a replacement for my own site in some respects. This would fit with the ideas I've been reading here from people about #BeYourOwnPlatform or #OwnYourPlatform
I like the idea of owning as part of a co-op instead of being out on my own I think. I go through stages though...
