“#Keating was still the prime minister, #Kennett was premier of #Victoria. The highest selling song of the year in this country was Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio. Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Red Hot Chili Peppers had been out for four years but still held sway over the entire universe.
There was a band in #Sydney called Def FX who were winning awards and telling us in song titles and lyrics – with a metal/hiphop backbeat – about "ritual", "magik" and "psychoactives".
This was what was in the wind. It was commercial music, the #TripleJ staple of the day, and #Cranky came and went so very quickly within all of this with 2 Bugs and a song called Australia Don't Become America, otherwise known as "Straya Don Come Merica". It was influenced by the above – the sound and the fury – and in particular by Rage Against The Machine, Disposible Heroes of Hiphroprisy, Public Enemy, Pop Will Eat Itself and EMF”

Pretty much every #band I've ever been in has been using a hodgepodge of online services: various IMs for chat, online storage for sharing scores/files, plus maybe like wordpress for blog/news. Sometimes even mailing lists. It all sucks, because there's always someone who doesn't use <insert IM service here>, or doesn't have a Google account for GDrive or whatever.

Wir sein Schwarz Mander, #neuhier, und spielen "Alte Tiroler Brutalität", jetzt auch im #Fediverse.
Man kannt jetzt drüber streiten, was des für a Genre isch, aber die Mischung aus #Metal, #Doom, #Rock und #Punk schon eher passend.
Gsungen wird im Tiroler Dialekt, gspielt mit Bass und Schlagzeug, gejodelt a manchmal.
Falls mal anhorchen wollts, unser erstes Live Konzert kann man gratis und ohne Anmeldung da streamen

A long time ago when I was playing bass in a punk rock band with my friends, I realized the struggle of local music promotion.
Back then the only place to go to find out about local music was 101.7FM: "The Fox". They showcased local rock music once a week.
When the station got taken over by a huge media corporation and killed that show, I wanted to fill the void.
Subjam is the project: A live broadcasting and social networking platform for local music.
