What are you doing during a rainy weekend? Instructing CoPilot in #VScode to implement a fully working Blockchain implementation in Rust - with a TUI and WASM-based frontend. I haven't written any line of code, just prompted CoPilot in the right direction. In sum I have spent less than 4 hours on this. Almost everything built in today’s alt-radical tech scene is, bluntly, pointless. Despite good intentions, most of it ends up feeding the endless cycle of #fashernista churn, flashy new platforms, bleeding-edge protocols, or encrypted communication tools nobody uses, built by isolated teams disconnected from real-world needs or history. This is the #geekproblem: a culture where novelty is fetishized, and social usefulness is an afterthought, if it appears at all.

@tante @stk Ich war neulich auf einem KI-Event mit Leuten aus Verwaltungen in ganz Deutschland. Die berichteten vom immensen Druck der lokalen Politik, doch „endlich auch KI zu einzusetzen“. Die Verwaltungen selber wollten gar nicht, denn sie wussten auch gar nicht wofür. Warum KI angeblich so toll ist, wollten sie dann von mir wissen.
Nach meinem Rant dazu haben wir uns darauf geeinigt, dass sie sowieso nötige Arbeiten, für die es sonst keine Ressourcen gibt (z. B. Übersetzung von Formularen in andere Sprachen), als „KI-Einsatz“ labeln sollen...
Das erinnert mich alles so an den #Blockchain-Hype.
