ads in WhatsApp is so typical yet logical conclusion of where the messenger has evolved to

but tbh that's not the worst part. the worst is that it's extremely complicated to convince people you know to move away from it. for them, it's "too complicated", "unnecessary", or "I don't need another messenger"

because, as awful Meta is, you expect such decisions from them. sadly it won't convince the majority to ditch the WA

Amazon Prime Video has doubled the running time of commercials it shows to subscribers since it launched ads, according to research from AdWeek. Viewers who don't subscribe to the platform's ad-free tier are now seeing up to six minutes per hour for a minimum $9/month fee. Even so, Amazon is still not considered to be in the highest tier of ad frequency. I took another look at the offending person and noticed that the person is only pushing articles, almost exclusively associated with the company he is working for. I can't even find any interaction. This is just #advertising.

I don't mind a little #advertising (since I'm also doing it) but this was a clear corporate lackey account. So #unfollow seemed like a better solution.
